From our Community Newsletter - September 2026
This month think about making a safety check a habit before every dip or swim...
Stop, look and assess!
Spend a few minutes looking at the water and ask yourself:
What's the weather been doing?
How fast is the water moving?
What's the tide doing?
Where will I enter and exit?
What hazards can I see?
What hazards might I NOT be able to see?
Who knows I'm here?
What will I do if something goes wrong?
Conditions can change quickly, even at places you've visited many times. The most important safety skill isn't swimming—it's knowing when not to get in.
If in doubt, stay out. There will always be another day to swim.
Stay safe!
Happy dipping and swimming!
