As Christmas approaches, so do the festive swims! They’re great fun, and if this is your first year taking part you might be wondering, what should I wear? The answer is simple: whatever you like!
Some people wear a swimsuit/bathers, others choose to add a rash vest or boots and gloves, some wear wetsuits, and even festive hats! Every swim is your swim, and you should do it in whatever way feels right for you. One piece of advice for those new to winter swimming is to consider wearing neoprene gloves, as there’s nothing worse than getting out of cold water and not being able to feel or use your hands. Gloves help keep them warmer for longer, so you’re more comfortable once you’re out and you are able to use your hands to get dressed quickly. Whatever you wear just enjoy yourself — laugh, have coffee and cake, enjoy the chat with others, and just soak up the experience.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. Happy swimming!
