As the days get longer and the water starts to warm up, it’s only natural to feel tempted by longer swims and spending more time in the sea.

But don’t be fooled — it’s still cold out there. Even with the sun shining, the water temperature can remain low, and the wind can quickly chill you once you’re out. Cold water shock is still a real risk, so take your time getting in, stay aware of how your body feels, and avoid pushing beyond your limits.

Swim your own swim. What feels right for someone else might not be right for you — and that’s okay. When you get out, make warming up a priority. Dry off, layer up, and protect yourself from the wind to help your body recover safely.

Enjoy the brighter days, but respect the conditions. Stay safe and look out for each other. This is my favourite time of year cool water warm sun!

Happy dipping and swimming!
